This longtime popular wild west theme park becomes a winter wonderland with Tweetsie Christmas. Take a nighttime train ride among a million lights. Plus, visit the Main Street shops, see Santa in his Gingerbread House, spin around on the amusement rides, and enjoy the tastes of the holidays. It definitely made our list of the Top Winter Things to Do Near Sugar Mountain. It’s very popular, so make reservations well in advance! It kicks off Thanksgiving weekend, running weekends plus Christmas week.

Tweetsie Christmas attractions include:

  • A 20-minute nighttime train ride in an open-air car pulled by one of the park’s historic steam locomotives on a three-mile route lined with hundreds of thousands dazzling Christmas lights.

Tweetsie Railroad is about a 30-minute drive from Sugar Mountain. Dress warmly! Train ride is open air.

Hours are 5-9 PM.  First train ride is 5:30 PM. Closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Buy tickets in advance online. Book for a specific date and train ride time (enjoy attractions before or after the train ride). 2024 rates – Adults: $60, Children (age 3-12): $40, Children 2 and under: Free. Parking is free. Go to their website to buy tickets.
