Browse dozens of tents loaded with top quality, handcrafted arts and crafts from regional and national artists in downtown Banner Elk four weekends each year. Art on the Green surrounds the lawn in front of the Historic Banner Elk School (185 Azalea Circle, Banner Elk), just 2.5 miles from the Village of Sugar Mountain.
The festivals take place on Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, Fourth of July weekend, an early August weekend and Labor Day weekend. Festivities also include food vendors and other entertainment. Craft vendors represent a variety of media, such as metal, glass, ceramics, wood, watercolor, acrylics and oil. Find everything from hand-crafted furniture to a one-of-a-kind art creations inspired by our Blue Ridge Mountains.
Hours are 10 AM until 5 PM. Admission and parking are free. Proceeds from the shows are used for restoration of the historic school, built in 1939 as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project. The school is a cultural arts center for the area.
