The Star Spangled Banner Elk Fourth includes the very popular parade and festivities afterwards in Tate-Evans Park – just 3 miles from Sugar Mountain. The parade kicks off at 11 AM on the Lees-McRae campus end of Main Street and proceeds east on Main Street to end at the park. Enjoy photos from the parade!
It’s definitely a community affair. Anyone that wants to be part of the parade lines up along College Drive through the college campus. All entries must be deck out in red, white and blue – of course!
See everything from classic cars and trucks to drum & bugle corps to an array of furry friends including alpacas from nearby Apple Hill Farm.
Of course, you should wear your patriotic colors!
Crowds pack the sidewalks early to get a good spot.
From trains to antique cars!
After the parade, walk over to Tate-Evans Park for food, music and games for plenty of family fun!
Enjoy the July 4th fireworks at Sugar Mountain that evening and the Summit Crawl before the parade. Read more!
