Lift your beer stein to celebrate Sugar Mountain Resort’s 33rd annual Oktoberfest – during the mountain fall color show! Enjoy the sounds and tastes of Bavaria from 10am-5pm each day. In addition to plenty of brews, there’ll be plenty of food, crafts and fun for all ages. It’s held rain or shine. Admission, parking and shuttle service are all FREE! Find places to stay on Sugar.

Bavarian cuisine include bratwurst and knockwurst made by Geier’s Sausage Kitchen – along with sauerkraut, strudel, and soft pretzels. Other festival favorites will include hamburgers, cotton candy, kettle corn and more. Barrels and barrels of Bavaria’s Spaten Oktoberfest beer, created in 1872 and brewed in Munich as the world’s first Oktoberfest beer, flows generously.

From noon until 4 pm each day, the Harbour Towne Fest Band bring the authentic sounds, dances and enthusiasm.

Oktoberfest Crafts, Sugar Mountain NC

Browse arts and crafts from local artists with a big variety of items from food to ironworks. Kids fun center (admission required) operates 11am until 5pm both days. Some of the activities include fun time inflatables, hay rides, corn hole, water balloon toss, and pumpkin bowling.

To take in the fall color across the mountain ranges, ride the Summit Express Chairlift up to the summit. The Bike Park will also be open.

The popular costume contest is Saturday at 4 PM (free to enter). Pets are welcome to attend Oktoberfest. However, they are not allowed on the deck or inside the lodge and must be on a leash at all times.

Location: Sugar Mountain Resort Main Lodge, 1009 Sugar Mountain Drive, Sugar Mountain. Find plenty of free parking just before the lodge on the right. It’s a short walk to the festival or you can ride the free shuttle. Go to their website for the latest updates.
