Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster, Sugar Mountain

We are delighted to welcome the first Alpine Coaster in the North Carolina Mountains – located at the base of Sugar Mountain. Ride individual carts at speeds up to 27 MPH on multiple 360-degree loops at Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster. It’s a cross between a roller coaster and toboggan sled run. They are open every day year-round, including our winter ski season. Advance online reservations highly recommended (required most days) – read more below. 

Alpine Coaster Sugar Mountain

Begin your trek by riding to the top of the mountain with views of Sugar Mountain. Ride through the forest and by rock boulders – fun for the entire family. The two-person carts are perfect for a parent a child (needs to be at least 38 inches). To ride single, you need to be at least 16 years old and 54 inches tall.

There’s no experience needed. Each self-steering cart has hand brakes, so you control your speed. Each ride is about 7 minutes, and they have single or multiple ride tickets.

Hours & Tickets: They are open every day from 10 AM until 6 PM. Single ride tickets are $16/adult (ages 14+), $13/youth (ages 7-14) and $5/child ages 3-6. Save with multi- ride package tickets (3 rides for $35/adult, $29/youth, $12/children). Advance reservations highly recommended, but walk-ins are welcome on slower days.
