The Sugar Mountain Police Department is charged with keeping the Village streets safe and protecting the property interests of all of our residents and guests. The department works a 24-hour day schedule, 365 days per year. The department is constantly patrolling Village roads, conducting home and business checks, directing traffic, and assisting all other local law enforcement agencies.

The Department consists of the Chief, David Henson, Lieutenant Casey Turbyfill,  Sergeant Ben Townsend,  and Patrol Officer Joe Buchanan.

Police Officer

The Village of Sugar Mountain is taking applications for a Police Officer.  Minimum Qualifications:  Must be a High School Graduate, BLET Certified, possess a valid NC driver’s license, and possess impeccable integrity, ethics, and a strong background of professionalism. Experience is preferred but not necessary. Minimum starting salary with no experience is $36,000.  Benefits package includes: paid medical, dental, vision, life, and short-term disability insurance, 401K, NC State Retirement, and paid vacation, sick, and holiday leave.
